Home calendar: A portrait of the shared space

What reasons move us to decide to build our lives with someone within a common space? This is the key question each of these pictures seek to respond.

Their starting point is The Arnolfini Portrait (or Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and His Wife) painted by Jan Van Eyck in 1434, of which many interpretations have been given and none has prevailed, except for the fact that there is an intention (whichever this can be) visible in every element: the figures, their postures and their attire, even the chosen space and the furnishing items.

Inspired in this painting, each couple defined the way they wanted to be photographed. These are not casual pictures; it’s a reflexion on the image of themselves they want to offer to others, a construction starting from gestures, objects and spaces awaiting for the spectator’s gaze that in turn will give them its own sense and ultimate meaning.

This project is called Home Calendar because this is precisely what it was meant to be: a calendar that would gather all the pictures so that those participating could hang it at home and use it along 14 months. Technical, monetary and formattig issues, as well the unexpected pandemic, compelled its virtual exhibition in this website.
